Francisco Jonas Nascimento Neto, 17 Years Old born in Fortaleza (CE) Brazil, moved to the United Stales when he was 4 years of age. Not being able to enroll him in school just yet because of his age, his parents,  Jonas and Nissy went looking for an activity so that their son would be able to socialize.

“We saw this sport as a solution to our problem and put Francisco into the Taekwondo school right by our house.”Says Nissy. Not even imagining that by doing so, a History of great success would begin.

Without being able to speak English or Spanish yet, his mom tells us that it was  very hard for Francisco to follow along on the exercises he was told to do, or instructions given by his Master. “It wasn’t long before the sport turned into torture. We felt that every afternoon before practice, he became sad, and cried without ever being able to answer the reason why he felt that way.” she says.

His parents then decided to take him out, they felt that Francisco felt different not being able to communicate and understand the language. Just a year later, he himself found his dobok (taekwondo uniform), put it on and went up to his dad, turned to him and said, “Please take me back to taekwondo, I promise I wont cry and I will try to become the best.” “At the time, it was hard to believe that I was hearing this coming from my 5 year old son.”

Today 12 years later Francisco is a American Citizen, third degree black belt, and only 17 years old, a great example of will power, and determination.
